Our Story

Epic Explorations began with a simple belief: travel should be more than a change of scenery. It should awaken curiosity, deepen relationships, and create stories worth carrying home.

We design journeys for people who want to experience a destination rather than simply pass through it. That means looking beyond the expected itinerary to discover the people, traditions, landscapes, ideas, and unexpected moments that give a place its meaning.

Sometimes an exploration begins with a destination. Other times, it begins with a story, a shared interest, an unanswered question, or even a dream that has not yet found its place on a map. We take that first spark and thoughtfully develop it into something personal, purposeful, and unforgettable.

Through our worldwide Circle of Trust—historians, guides, hoteliers, chefs, winemakers, artisans, destination experts, business leaders, and local hosts—we connect travelers with experiences that would be difficult to discover on their own.

Every journey is different because every traveler has a different reason for going.

Our story has evolved over years of traveling, listening, learning, and building trusted relationships around the world.

What began as Travel Unrivaled grew into something broader and more imaginative. We realized that the experiences we were creating were not simply vacations. They were explorations built around curiosity, connection, access, and a genuine sense of wonder.

Epic Explorations became the natural expression of that vision.

Today, the individual experiences we create are our Journeys. Some begin with a destination. Others begin with a story, a shared interest, an unanswered question, or something we have always dreamed of exploring.

We bring related Journeys together into Collections—larger realms of exploration shaped by a common idea. A Collection might follow the roots of music, explore the relationship between land and culture, examine the meaning of faith, or search for the world’s many expressions of wonder.

Collections give our ideas room to grow. Journeys turn those ideas into experiences that can be lived.

Whatever the starting point, our purpose remains the same: to create experiences that could not simply be selected from a brochure or reproduced by following someone else’s itinerary.

Epic Explorations is deeply personal. It reflects the different but complementary talents of Robert and Linda Riesmeyer, along with the knowledge, hospitality, and creativity of the people they have come to trust around the world.
