Our Commitment to Combat Human Trafficking

Travel depends on people: the guides who share their knowledge, the drivers who carry us, the hospitality teams who welcome us, and the communities that invite us in. Their dignity and freedom matter as much as the experiences we create for our guests.

Epic Explorations opposes human trafficking in all its forms, including sex trafficking and forced labor. We do not knowingly work with anyone who exploits people, and we take credible concerns about our journeys or partners seriously.

Choosing Our Partners

We build journeys through relationships with local hosts, guides, accommodations, and travel professionals. As we choose and continue those relationships, we consider how people are treated and whether a partner’s practices reflect our commitment to dignity, safety, and fair work.

No travel company can see every part of a supplier’s operation. When a credible concern comes to our attention, we will look into it, seek appropriate guidance, and reconsider the relationship when warranted.

Staying Alert and Responding Carefully

We want the people involved in our journeys to understand that trafficking can involve both sexual exploitation and forced labor. A concerning situation deserves attention, but appearances alone do not tell someone’s whole story.

If a guest or member of our team suspects trafficking during a journey, we ask them to put safety first, avoid confronting a suspected trafficker, and report the concern through an appropriate local authority or specialized hotline. They should also tell their Epic Explorations host when it is safe to do so, so we can respond to any concern involving the journey or its partners.

Respecting Those Affected

A person experiencing exploitation should be treated with dignity and allowed as much choice and privacy as the situation permits. Our role is to listen, avoid making assumptions, and connect concerns with people trained to help. We do not ask guests to investigate or intervene on their own.

Supporting Work Close to Home

Epic Explorations supports ReHope in Kansas City and its work with people affected by human trafficking. This relationship reminds us that trafficking is not only a concern in faraway destinations. It affects communities close to home, too, and responding to it takes people and organizations committed to the work every day.

A Continuing Responsibility

Our commitment requires more than a statement on a website. We will continue to learn, ask better questions of our partners, share useful resources with our travelers, and act when we learn that a journey may be connected to exploitation.
