Human Rights Committment

Travel brings us into other people’s homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and stories. That is a privilege, and it carries responsibility.

At Epic Explorations, we create journeys around meaningful encounters with people and place. We believe those encounters should be grounded in dignity, mutual respect, and genuine curiosity. Our commitment to human rights guides how we design experiences, choose partners, welcome guests, and respond when something falls short.

Respect for People and Place

The people who live in a destination are more than part of a traveler’s experience. They are its hosts, storytellers, artists, guides, and neighbors. We seek their knowledge and welcome their perspectives, including the parts of a place’s story that may be difficult to hear.

We favor experiences shaped with local people and businesses. We ask guests to approach communities with respect, seek permission before photographing people, and remember that an invitation into someone’s life is never an entitlement.

Fair and Responsible Partnerships

Our journeys depend on the work of guides, drivers, hosts, hospitality teams, makers, and many others. We seek partners who treat people with dignity, provide safe working conditions, and reject forced labor, trafficking, child exploitation, and discrimination.

As we build our Circle of Trust and other local relationships, we ask questions, listen to concerns, and reconsider a partnership when its practices conflict with these commitments. We cannot personally oversee every workplace in every destination, but we can make thoughtful choices and act on credible concerns.

Experiences That Benefit Communities

We want the value of a journey to reach the people who make it possible. Whenever practical, we work with locally rooted guides, accommodations, restaurants, producers, and small businesses. We seek exchanges that guests and hosts both find worthwhile, with appropriate compensation for people’s time, knowledge, and hospitality.

We do not believe every community needs to welcome visitors or share every tradition. Local people should have a meaningful say in what they choose to share and how they share it.

A Welcome for Every Traveler

Epic Explorations welcomes travelers of different backgrounds, beliefs, identities, and abilities. We expect guests and partners to treat one another with respect. Harassment, exploitation, and discrimination have no place on our journeys.

Travel needs vary from person to person. We invite guests to tell us what they need so we can discuss the realities of a proposed journey and work toward an experience that is welcoming and suitable for them.

Safety and Care

A well-designed journey considers the well-being of guests, hosts, and the people working behind the scenes. Our background in safe travel informs our planning, partner conversations, and response to changing conditions. We communicate known risks and practical limitations so travelers can make informed decisions.

Safety is a shared responsibility. We ask guests to follow local guidance, respect boundaries, and consider how their choices affect others.

Care for the Places We Visit

The health of a community is tied to its land, water, wildlife, and cultural heritage. We seek partners who care for these resources and design journeys with attention to their impact. We encourage guests to follow local conservation rules, avoid harmful wildlife encounters, and leave places ready to welcome the next generation.

An Ongoing Commitment

We will not always get every decision right. When guests, partners, or community members raise a concern, we will listen, look into it, and take appropriate action. We will continue to learn from the people and places that make our journeys possible.

Travel starts the moment you leave your comfort zone. For us, that includes being willing to listen, question our assumptions, and travel with care. That is the kind of exploration we want to share with you.
