Europe has never been a single destination.

It is a collection of countries, regions, languages, landscapes, traditions, and histories—sometimes separated by a border and sometimes by little more than the next bend in the road. It can feel familiar at first glance, yet Europe has a remarkable ability to reveal something entirely unexpected once we begin looking beneath the surface.

That is why Europe remains firmly On Our Radar.

We know there are more European journeys waiting for us. We simply do not know what all of them will become yet.

Somewhere Beyond the Familiar

Europe offers plenty of places everyone recognizes: celebrated cities, famous monuments, grand museums, legendary landscapes, and historic sites that have shaped the world. Those places matter, but they are not necessarily where an Epic Explorations journey begins.

More often, the spark comes from something smaller.

It might be a family tending vines on land cultivated for generations. A craftsperson preserving a tradition that nearly disappeared. A village whose history cannot be understood through its architecture alone. A meal that tells the story of migration, hardship, adaptation, and place. A former industrial district discovering a new identity through art and imagination.

Perhaps the thread will lead us into a lesser-known wine region, along an ancient pilgrimage route, through the landscapes of a beloved writer, or into communities shaped by the rise and fall of empires. It could emerge from a forgotten chapter of European history, a living folk tradition, a distinctive boutique hotel, or a conversation with someone whose relationship with their home deserves to be shared.

Right now, all of those possibilities remain open.

A Continent of Overlapping Stories

What continues to draw us toward Europe is not simply its age or beauty. It is the way its stories overlap.

Roman roads pass beneath modern cities. Medieval walls surround neighborhoods filled with contemporary life. Religious traditions, political borders, wars, trade routes, agriculture, migration, and creative movements have left layers that can still be seen—and often tasted—today.

Europe also invites us to explore the relationship between preservation and change. Some communities are fighting to protect their language, foodways, architecture, or traditional livelihoods. Others are reinventing themselves after decades of economic or political change. Many are doing both at once.

That tension may eventually become part of the story we follow.

Could the journey examine how European communities preserve identity in a changing world? Might it connect several regions through food, wine, faith, music, craftsmanship, or shared history? Could it explore the places travelers pass over while racing between the continent’s best-known capitals?

We do not have the answer yet, but we know those are questions worth asking.

What Has Our Attention

We are especially curious about the places that complicate the familiar picture of Europe:

• Borderlands where cultures, languages, and identities meet
• Rural communities preserving traditional agriculture and foodways
• Historic pilgrimage and cultural routes
• Small cities living in the shadow of better-known neighbors
• Landscapes shaped by wine, olive oil, fishing, forestry, or pastoral life
• Artisans and makers keeping regional traditions alive
• Communities rebuilding or redefining themselves after conflict
• Historic properties finding thoughtful new purposes
• Stories connecting Europe with the Americas and the wider world
• People who can help us see a familiar place differently

Any one of these could become the beginning of something larger. Or the eventual journey may come from a possibility we have not encountered yet.

What Could This Become?

At some point, a particular place, person, or story will provide the missing spark.

When that happens, Europe will move from On Our Radar into What Are We Dreaming About. The destination will become more specific. A narrative thread will begin to form. We will start asking who should be part of it, what travelers should experience, and why the journey deserves to exist.

Until then, Europe remains an open map filled with possibilities.
